Hayaa (Modesty)

One of the most emphasized aspects in Islam is the aspect of Hayaa (modesty).

This applies to both males and females. Females should ensure that they are dressed modestly and their bodies are covered as prescribed in the Shari’ah and they avoid contact with non-Mahram males;

and males should ensure that they also dress appropriately, lower their gazes and avoid contact with non-Mahram females. When these principles are neglected, the result is the weakening of Imaan and turmoil in one’s life.

Abdullah ibn Umar (Radiyallahu Anhuma) said,

“Modesty and Imaan are inseparable. When one of them is lost, the other ceases to exist.” (Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah)
