Darul Iftaa Graduation Jalsa 2013

With the Fadhl of Almighty Allāh, the 2013 annual Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah Jalsah took place on the 8th of June in Masjid Saliheen, Sherwood after Maghrib Salāh. The Masjid was full till capacity. There was an approximate turnout of 800 people with most of the attendees being Ulamā.

World renowned luminaries such as Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri Saheb Damat Barakatuhum, Hadhrat Moulana Yusuf Kawi Saheb, Hadhrat Moulana Suleman Choksi Saheb, Hadhrat Mufti Saeed Motara Saheb, Hadhrat Moulana Ebrahim Pandor Saheb, Hadhrat Moulana Haroon Abassomar Saheb, Hadhrat Moulana Abdul Haque Makada Saheb, Hadhrat Mufti Yaqub Minty Saheb and others were also present.

Hadhrat Moulana Ahmad Chohan Saheb, the Imām of Masjid Saliheen, inspired the attendees with his wise words as the MC of the Jalsah. A heart-touching Qirāt of Surah ar-Rahman was rendered by Mufti Abdul Hannan Saheb of the USA, a student of Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah who was amongst the qualifying students. This was followed by a beautiful Nazm rendered by Moulana Mustafa Kamil Saheb, a Khalīfah of Hadhrat Moulana Hakim Akhtar Saheb Rahimahullāh.

The next item of the Jalsa was a talk by Hadhrat Moulana Suleman Choksi Saheb, first Ustādh of Fiqh of Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb and presently senior Ustadh of Hadith at Darul Uloom Zakariyya. Hadhrat Moulana’s talk was inspiring, full of wisdom and pearls. Hadhrat Moulana stressed on the dangers of desiring respect and praises from others.

Hadhrat Moulana stated that the value of an individual lies in his internal qualities and characteristics, not in the amount of praises he receives from people. Allāh Ta’ālā will give entry into Jannah through his will and choice and not because of how much one is praised and honoured by people. Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri Saheb praised Hadhrat Moulana Suleman Choksi Saheb’s bayan and stated that he benefitted and received great Inshirāh (satisfaction and happiness) from the talk.

Thereafter, Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb addressed the crowd with the annual report of Darul Iftaa Mahmudiyyah.

Moulana Mustafa Kamil Saheb was called upon a second time to render Ash’ār (poems) written by the great luminary Hadhrat Moulana Hakim Akhtar Saheb Rahimahullah. The Ash’ār were full of meaning and love for Allāh Ta’ālā.

This was followed by the main program of the night, a talk rendered by the guest of honour Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Khanpuri Saheb Damat Barakatuhum, the Ustadh of Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb Damat Barakatuhum. Hadhrat Mufti Ahmad Saheb mentioned that the titles given to scholars of Dīn are in reality qualities of Allāh Ta’ālā that have been given to Ulamā as a token of honour. Allāh Ta’ālā states in the Qurān that He is a Mufti (issues a Jurisprudic ruling) (Surah an-Nisā, Verse 176), He is Hāfidh (Protector of the Qurān) (Surah al-Hijr, Verse 9) and He is Qārī (Surah al-‘Alā, Verse 6).

This was followed by the giving of certificates to graduating students. Thereafter, Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saheb requested his three Ustādhs (teachers) to honour the eight graduating students with the Dastarbandi (tying of turbans). The final Duā was rendered by Hadhrat Mufti Khanpuri Saheb Damat Barakatuhum. The Jalsa program will be uploaded shortly on the Darul Iftaa website.

The noble residents of Sherwood under the leadership of Hadhrat Moulana Ahmad Chohan Saheb hosted the honourable guests with a sumptuous meal.
