Asking Allah Ta’ala sincerely for martyrdom
عن سهل بن حنيف رضي الله عنه :ان رسول الله 
قال :” من سأل الله تعالى الشهادة بصدق بلغه ” الله منازل الشهداء، وإن مات على فراشه ”

Hazrath Sahl bin Hunaif RadhiyAllahu anhu narrates that Rasoolullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said “Whoever asks Allah sincerely for martyrdom [Allahumma inni as’aluk ash-shahadah], Allah will cause him to reach the status of the martyrs even if he dies in his bed.” [Muslim]
